June 20, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pmFree
Please join the Urban Design Panel to hear about efforts to save the Downtown Portland Model.
An important part of the city’s rich urban design history, the model demonstrates the commitment and sensitivity that Portland has in carefully considering the context for new buildings and how they fit into the surrounding built environment of the city.
With The Portland Building renovations starting this fall, the model needs a temporary home, a strategy for restoration, and a long-term plan for preservation. Though no longer needed for its original purpose in the Design Review process, it is a valuable part of the past that can still provide inspiration and excitement to a new generation of Portlanders.
Mark Raggett from the Bureau of Plannng and Sustainability’s Urban Design Studio share his ideas for preserving the model. Please join AIA Portland, American Planning Association – Oregon Chapter, and ASLA Oregon to learn more!
We’ll also hear about efforts across the city including the Green Loop, the Central City 2035 Plan, and an update on next steps for the Design Overlay Zone Assessment.
